My practice is free flowing and colourful! As an artist and sculptor I love movement and abstract forms.
‘I do not paint what I see, I paint how I feel.’
I love being part of a local community of artists and creatives. Collaborating on projects and exhibitions. Bringing a message through different mediums.
I always have an urge to pick up a palette knife, mix colours or swirl charcoal across a canvas. The smell of wood as I chisel and rasp it into shapes and forms is potent and nostalgic. When working with stone I emerge covered in powder, exhausted from chiselling but utterly contented. The form is directed by the wood or stone itself, the original sketch and maquette discarded. One day I may stand in front of a large canvas throwing paint, lines and curves with a passion I cannot stop and another I will sit quietly with a linoprint carving absorbed with engraving tools and fine detail.
Each piece tells a story, has an emotion and often blood, sweat and tears.
My wish is to surprise and to engage a reaction, whether delight, passion, disgust..I do not mind. But react! Feel free! Come fly with me!
